Traveling is a great pleasure for many of us, although sometimes it’s for business or necessity. Whatever is driving you to travel from home, you’ll need to decide how you’re going to get to your destination. Will you break in your new 2017 GMC Acadia or take some form of public transit?
- How Far Are You Going?
The distance of your trip makes a huge difference when it comes to choosing your travel method. If you’re going too far away that it would take more than 12+ hours via a personal vehicle, public transit sounds like a better option. Most people would prefer to fly this distance to make things easier. For distances shorter than 12 hours away, driving might still be a good option.
- Are You Traveling with Others?
The more people that are traveling, the more expensive public transportation becomes. Flying alone is not too expensive, but if you are traveling with a group of 4 or 5 people, it may be prohibitively expensive. Driving a personal vehicle is probably a good option, even if the trip is long, because you can combine to help cover fuel costs together.
- What Transit Options Exist in Your Destination?
If you’re going to a more rural location, you may not be able to get there easily with transit option. Sometimes you may need to rent a car in your destination, which is a cost that can add up quickly if you’re staying for a long time. If you’re traveling to a city or more urban area, transit may not be as big of an issue.
- Will You Need Your Own Transportation at Your Destination?
As mentioned above, renting a car can be very expensive over a longer time period. So, if you’re going to need tyour own transportation for any reason at your destination, you may want to consider driving a personal vehicle on your travels. Consider the cost of renting a car, the restrictions placed on how will be able to drive it, and how you’re going to pick up or drop off the car while traveling.
All of these are questions to help you figure out how you should travel. It may be convenient to take your own car, but it’s not always practical, and there may be a better option for you.
